Kwidex is Ghana's biggest Agricultural crowdfunding platform. We give everyday people an opportunity to own part of the value in agriculture. Kwidex gathers funds from contributors and distributes them to farmers and other projects in the agricultural value space.
Kwidex is a pioneering AgriTech startup based in Accra, Ghana. The company was established after the founding team participated in the Kosmos Innovation Center Agri-tech Challenge, aiming to solve a critical issue: the lack of flexible and affordable financing for millions of Ghanaian farming households.
Kwidex operates a decentralized, tokenized web platform built on smart contract blockchain technology. The platform operates on a crowd-lending model that connects two key demographics:
For Farmers & Agribusinesses: Agricultural players can upload their campaigns and projects to the platform to source capital directly from the public, bypassing unreliable and expensive informal financing routes or middlemen.
For Everyday Investors (Contributors): Urban dwellers and individuals with disposable income can browse vetted agricultural projects, select campaigns to fund via mobile money or card payments, and receive periodic updates on the farm's progress.
At the end of a specified project cycle (e.g., harvesting and sales), profits are shared pro-rata with the investors based on their initial contributions.
Market Impact Since launching its public beta in 2019, Kwidex has rapidly expanded its footprint, facilitating funding across the crop and animal husbandry value chains, particularly focusing on vegetables, grains, and poultry. The startup is recognized for democratizing agricultural investment, winning the first Betway Fintech Challenge in 2019, and securing backing from entities like DAI Global LLC and MEST. By providing a transparent, tech-driven investment avenue, Kwidex drives financial inclusion and accelerates growth within Ghana's agricultural sector
